Foundation (Prep)

Hello! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.

This week in reading, we discussed talking marks and speech bubbles. We read a book called Grumpy Bear and looked closely at when the character starting speaking and when he stopped. The students then reflected on their favourite phrase from the book and made their own posters of Grumpy Bear talking.

In Maths, students were introduced to estimation, by having a go at making a clever guess. We talked about what a clever guess might involve. Students then practised recording their guess and then checked how close they were. The actual number was recorded in a circle.

Inquiry

As you know, this term we are focusing on Community. The children are talking about people who help us in our community. The highlight of our week was visiting the Warrandyte CFA and having Blake lead us on a tour through the station. A huge thank you to the firefighters who worked with the Prep and Grade 1 students and to the parents who walked with us on the day.

Have a wonderful weekend!
