Blind Date with a Book

So much excitement and anticipation for this special ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) event. The smiles on our students’ faces were priceless. Students who participated in the Blind Date with a Book have until Thursday the 9th of March to post their book reviews in the library ‘Love’ box for the chance of a Booktopia gift voucher and canteen vouchers.  The library will be assisting students with their book reviews in our book club meetings this week.

Speed Book Dating

Our students thoroughly enjoyed their speed book dating in Book Club. Students from Year 7 to Year 12 eagerly participated in this special event.  Seeing students stepping up to prepare the tables for the special occasion was wonderful. Ambra Matheson 9F was an eager helper and displayed excellent leadership skills as she took over the duty of timekeeper and collected book date reviews. Hadiya Ahmad 11C kindly made beautiful origami heart bookmarks for all participants. She thoughtfully chose an array of colours to suit all preferences.

Students were rewarded with certificates of participation and matched with their favoured speed book dates in Book Club this Thursday. Some are sharing their dates (Bachelor/Bachelorette style)! The speed book date participants who could not make it to our book club on Thursday, have a second chance with our Extraordinary Book Club meeting on Friday this week (the first Friday of each month).

Library Monitor Recruitment

The library invites all students to volunteer to be a library monitor.Training will be provided at recess and a weekly roster created. Students will be invited to our end of term morning tea celebration and be acknowledged as a valued member in our school library and community.

Study On

Study On has become a popular place for students from Year 7 to 12 to study and to receive free tuition. Study On is a quiet, supportive and welcoming place where you can receive tuition, guidance, prepare for CATs and SACs, and develop lifelong study skills.

It runs from 3:15pm to 4:15pm Monday to Thursday in the library.

Senior Study Space

The library has started Senior Study Space in LIBM on Monday lunchtimes. Year 11 and 12 will have a quiet and comfortable place to study at lunchtime in the library.

There will be the option of receiving assistance from some of our tutors. For the remainder of the week, students can study in LIB1 at lunchtime or after school in the library in Study On.
