SOCIAL WORK STUDENT

Hi! My name is Tash and I am a Social Work student from Flinders University. I’m lucky enough to be spending about two terms at Hackham East Primary School and look forward to developing relationships and working with staff, students, and families. I thought it would be valuable to provide you with how the role of a Social Work student will look within a school setting! 

Developing an understanding of social and emotional needs of students and suggesting strategies that may support their individual needs.

With permission from families, providing targeted 1:1 and group support to children based on areas of need. 

Researching how to link families in with a variety of different community supports and providing this information in a variety of ways.

Understanding and responding to the social and emotional needs of all students.

Researching potential aspects that may cause stress for school staff and suggesting strategies that may help to reduce this.

School leadership and my Flinders University mentors will be supporting me through this process.

When I’m not studying or working you can usually catch me reading a book or spending time with my partner. Please feel free to say hi to me if you see me around! I’ll be at the school Wed-Fri and look forward to meeting everyone!
