Listening and Learning in the Heart of Australia

Last week Stacey Lamb spent the week in Alice Springs volunteering her time for non profit organisation Red Dust.

Red Dust have been working in the Northern Territory for over 25 years in many remote communities enriching lives and improving health and strengthening the future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander youths and their communities.

Throughout the week Stacey and the Red Dust team met and learnt with local community members, listening, experiencing stories and yarns on country and planning future ways to support these communities and First Nations People.

The local people shared the challenges they face in remote communities and also their views on the upcoming referendum and ways they believe we can achieve true reconciliation.

Listening and learning has helped Stacey in her role as Indigenous Education Leader at St. Bernard's and she continues to share this knowledge with staff and students.

Stacey will be volunteering her time again to support the delivery of programs in remote communities such as Daly River, Peppimenarti, Yuendumu, Kintore and Areyonga.
