Lent 2023 at Sacred Heart School Kew
Harmony Day
Last week, Sacred Heart Kew celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day is celebrated every year on March 21. It celebrates Australia's cultural diversity. Harmony Day is about including, respecting and appreciating the stories, traditions and cultures of all people who call Australia home. Below are some photos of our Year 3 students celebrating Harmony Day and some examples of Prep work on the day. Thank you to everyone that donated to the Project Compassion box for 2023 during our Lenten period. Well done to you all!
World Water Day Challenge
Thank you to all the students who participated in the World Water Day Bucket Challenge last Wednesday. We raised over $70 for Project Compassion and we transported the water more than 10km.

The Food for Life Board Game Competition took place at lunchtime on Wednesday. Thank you to all the children who entered and participated, especially the Year 5/6 students for coordinating the competition. Congratulations to Peter A (4JM) and Evan N (2EO) who won the competition.

Jess Wilson Easter Colouring Competition
Thank you for participating in the Jess Wilson Easter Colouring Competition. It was wonderful to see the competition embraced by so many students. Nearly 1000 entries were received from children attending school in the suburb of Kew.
Congratulations to Kiera P (2HC) and Alaia L (5CB) who won the Jess Wilson Easter Colouring Competition for Sacred Heart Kew. Kiera and Alaia will enjoy afternoon tea with Jess Wilson at her office on Monday 3 April, where they will receive their prizes as winners for Sacred Heart Kew.
Sports Day
Next Wednesday 5 April sees us celebrate our annual School Sports Day. This is always a wonderful occasion, with all children participating in sprints, a long distance event and a range of tabloid sports. On Sports Day, we encourage students to dress up and be part of the spirit of their house during the course of the day. All students are able to come to school in their sports uniform and a t-shirt that represents their house colour, ready for a day of races, sporting activities and fun.
Mr O’Shea has prepared a fun and enjoyable day for everyone to be involved in. Thanks to our Year 6 House Captains who are also working behind the scenes, preparing House chants as the excitement and team spirit builds. Thanks also to the Year 3 parents who on behalf of the PA have organised a hot dog lunch and icy pole for the children next week.
If you have not yet ordered a hot dog for your child, click the Trybooking link below.

Parents are invited to attend both the long distance races in the morning and the sprint races in the afternoon. We ask that spectators spread out along the green hill for the morning long distance races and spread out along the Glenferrie Road side of the school oval for the afternoon sprint races.
Thanks for your support with the above matters. We are very much looking forward to our 2023 School Sports Day next Wednesday 5 April.
