Dear Parents,

We had a great time at our Foundation Picnic two weeks ago. The weather was great! Thank you to all the families who were able to attend. We hope you had a chance to catch up with old friends and make new friends on the night.

This Monday, 27th March we are having our Cultural Diversity Day celebrations. We encourage students to dress in a way that represents their cultural identity or wear orange to represent harmony. We will have a special parade in the stadium where we will see the amazing range of cultures represented at our school.

Thank you to the parents who have filled out and returned the large white School Nurse Program envelope. This must be returned to school by next Tuesday 28th March.

Reminder – Curriculum Day is next Thursday 30th March. The children will not be attending school on this day. OSHC is available, however places are limited.

In the last week of school, we will be holding a special food event (supplied by the teacher). If your child has any food allergies, please let your child's teacher know and we will arrange for an alternative treat.

History Topic Next Term

Next term we will be looking at the topic ‘Who Am I?’ We discuss ourselves, our families and the celebrations we participate in.

To prepare for this topic, can you please send your child’s teacher the following photos:

1 x baby photo

1 x celebration photo

1 x family photo

1 x personal choice

You are welcome to either email your child’s teacher or to send in a named USB/Memory stick.

Classroom Assistance

In Foundation we have many events which require parental support at school and on excursions. If you are considering helping at any stage during the year (eg. Digitech, excursions or classroom reading), please apply for a Working With Children Card this term so we are able to include you on our lists for these events from Term 2 onwards. The forms are available online.

English

Continue to read with your child every night and sign their reading log.  We have almost completed all of the sounds and your children have done an amazing job. Keep practising these sounds and blending them in the reader lists and books.

Maths

  • Counting songs and actions.
  • Adding groups together.
  • Written formation of numerals.
  • Numbers 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18.

Named Belongings

Please ensure that all clothing, lunch boxes and drink bottles are clearly named. This will ensure that if they are misplaced, they will be returned to their owner as soon as possible. Please understand that it may take a few days for your child’s lost item to be returned to their classroom. If you buy a new item of clothing (eg hat, jacket or jumper), please write your child’s name on it before they wear it to school.

If you have them, stickers are best used for drink bottles and iron on labels for hats and jackets. Unfortunately stickers fall off hat labels or the insides of hats and jackets, so even writing their name on the label is better.

If your child brings a ball to play with outside, please make sure this also has your child’s name and grade on it. The ball may be accidentally left outside at playtime and we would like it to be reunited with its owner.

Show and Tell Timetable

Each week there will be different letters to base our Show and Tell on. These letters will have been taught in the previous week and will provide further opportunities for revision.
