Welcome to Week 9 of Term 1! It's hard to believe we're already nearing the end of the term, but there's still plenty happening around the school.

This week, our Year 3 students were busy completing various NAPLAN assessments, while our Year 4 students continue making great progress in their classes.

In other news, our school's Colour Run fundraising event is coming up soon on the 31st of March, and we're looking for volunteers to help make it a success. If you're interested in getting involved,  please indicate your interest on this form https://forms.office.com/r/6Gt89b3mwj.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to another great week at our school!

NAPLAN

The Year 3 Teachers would like to send out a HUGE congratulations to the Year 3 Students on completing their NAPLAN tests over the last fortnight. It was a busy two weeks, with many students sitting catch-ups at different times, sneaking through the corridors so as not to distract other classes, timetables being switched around and classrooms being rearranged.

It was a massive effort from all the students and we commend them on their hard work and dedication. A big shout-out also goes to Lisa Shoebridge, who organised everyone superbly to ensure classes were ready for each test!

The results for NAPLAN likely won’t come until the second half of the year, and your teacher or the school will contact you when the results are available. Well done, everyone!

Year 3 Camp

We are less than two weeks away now until the Year 3 Camp! The students are starting to get excited, the teachers are getting some extra rest in preparation, and the YMCA is looking forward to having us! It is set to be an amazing two days away. Please read on for some reminders about what to do, and what to pack:

  • Please ensure students are at the Vermont Reserve Clubrooms at 8.40 am on Wednesday 5th April, with all their (named!) belongings.
  • Any non-urgent medication needs to be dropped into the First Aid Room on Monday or Tuesday of that week.
  • Any urgent medication (EpiPens) can be given to Di Burchell or Philip Allison on Wednesday morning at the reserve.
  • Students are not to bring any other food, snacks or lollies to camp. All meals and snacks are being provided. They only need to bring a water bottle.
  • Students are allowed to wear free choice clothing on both days of camp. The only school item they must wear is their school hat.
  • Please remember to pack a fitted sheet (single bed), sleeping bag and pillow. These items would ideally fit in your child’s bag, or they need to be clearly labelled.

If you have any other questions regarding camp, then please get in touch with your child’s teacher, or Kate Yates at kate.yates@education.vic.gov.au .

The second of these instalments is $172 and must be paid by Wednesday, 26th of April.

All permission and medical information is to be completed on Qkr while paying the first instalment.

We are looking forward to this camp and the wonderful educational opportunities it will bring for all of the students.

'Leak, soak or repel?': During this science lesson, Year 4 students were asked to make predictions about the absorbency of various materials. Before testing each material's absorbency and interpreting the results.

This week, in maths Year 4 students were asked to measure the perimeter and area of each letter in their name on grid paper. Here is some students' work from 4ED.

In recent weeks, Year 4 students have been refining their knowledge of persuasive techniques.
