Term One Equestrian News

We’ve had a wonderfully busy term at the Equestrian Centre, with lessons and clinics going full steam ahead. We were incredibly lucky to welcome back Fiona Normand on March 17th who was again kind enough to share her wisdom, humour and knowledge of horse training and riding. Students participated in both ground and pole work and a number of students were able to talk through their tests with her before going out to compete this last weekend. Fiona will again join us in Term Two for more lessons.

The Inter School Victoria State Championships are fast approaching and will be held April 15-19 at The National Equestrian Centre in Werribee. We are sending a strong team – Alison Foster, Zoe Weinberg, Muirne Reilly (Vice Captain Horsemanship), Charlie Hiscock and Finley Hiscock who will compete across a range of disciplines throughout the event. If you’re going to be in Melbourne post Easter, why not come down and cheer on our team!

Starting Term Two we will have a range of guest instructors coming in on every other Thursday to school students in the instructors specialty. Megan Johnston from Warrnambool will be running pole classes, Roberta Campbell for flatwork and we’re hoping to have a guest jump instructor to add to the list soon. Interested students should send through their name so I can keep them updated as bookings progress.

Rather excitingly, we will also be offering a Senior Horsemanship class on a Wednesday from Term 2, taught by Chris and Justin Corbidge of Wongaburra. In this lesson, students will work with their horses on Natural Horsemanship skills. If interested, don’t hesitate to make contact and we’ll see if we can slot you into the lesson.

We welcomed a lovely new school horse, Kasey, to our herd last week. She joins Dusty and Patchy as part of our Equestrian team and has already started giving lessons. If your child is looking to ride but needs a horse, we may be able to assist.

A reminder, please, that all horses will need to be off property by Wednesday April 5th for the holiday period. The Equestrian Centre will close this day and reopen on Tuesday April 25th.

Have a wonderful term break and we look forward to seeing you all again next term,

Mae and ‘Kasey’
