Congratulations to Jack Surkitt (9.2, Solomon) and Marcus Torcasio (9.3, Benilde) who were declared equal Year 9 Athletics Champions. In an impressive 3rd place was Max Matthews (9.2, McCristal).
We have also held several assemblies educating the students on Study Techniques, Dangers of Vaping, Train Safety, Mission Action Day and Prayer.
Once a fortnight, we have a Wellbeing lesson embedded in the curriculum. St Bede’s has signed up to the very successful ‘The Resilience Project'. Each Homeroom Teacher runs sessions on Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Resilience. These have been received well by the students, who are encouraged to apply the positive mental health strategies to their daily life.
Congratulations to the following 20 students who have been elected as Class Captains for Semester One:
9.1 | Thomas Biviano & Daniel Davis |
9.2 | Charlie Byers & Daniel Athaide |
9.3 | Javier Campos & Chase Chetverikov |

We wish the above students well in their important leadership role.
Term 2 sees the continuation of Year 9 camps. These coming camps will take place at Lake Eildon National Park. Students will be challenged both physically and mentally while forming stronger bonds with their class mates.
Term 2 will also provide the students with their first experience of semester examinations at the College. These will be held in early June.
We wish all Year 9 students a strong and productive end to Term 1 and a restful and safe holiday break.

Bentleigh East Campus
Our Year 9 students have made a smooth transition into their final year at the Bentleigh campus. The Friday Program has completed its first rotation, with units in City Project, Live Well, LaSallian Service and Vocational Preparation currently taking place. The Apprentice will commence in Term 2.
Unfortunately, the Year 9 Camp to Lake Eildon was cancelled due to a bushfire threat, and has been rescheduled to the end of August.
Earlier in the Term, the Year 9's elected their Class Captains. Congratulations to the following students:
Angus Liddell (9.1)
Todd Hannan (9.2)
Rhys Jones (9.3)
Thomas Rossi (9.4)
For many students, the highlight of the term was Mission Action Day. Prior to the day, a group of Year 9 students raised additional funds by washing Staff cars. Thank you to Tyson, Spencer, Sam and Liam for a great initiative.
Try-outs for ACC sport have now been held for Football and Soccer, with matches to commence in Week 2 of Term 2.
Overall, our Year 9 students have had a busy and successful start to the year.
