Piano Recycling Program

College Vice Captain - Ben Smith

"After working with an instrument recycling company from Braeside - ‘Pianos Recycled’ - I have placed one recycled, upright piano outdoor at both Mentone and Bentleigh East Campuses. 

The company recycles pianos, saves them from landfill and “helps sustain our planet into the future”. From here, the company can donate these pianos to schools to give them new life, which is a part of the ‘PREPS’ initiative (Program for Recycled Educational Pianos in Schools).

These pianos have been placed in the yard for purposes of wellbeing, student individuality, recycling and of course, unique vibes around the Canteen (Mentone) and Library (Bentleigh East) areas!

It has been a great satisfaction to see so many talented young men at the College utilizing these pianos for not only their benefit, but the people around them also. I look forward to seeing more students and teachers making the most of these vintage instruments, and having a go at ‘tickling the ivories!’
