Fieldwork Excursions - Year 7 and 8

As part of their studies in Geography, all the Year 7 and 8 students have participated in a fieldwork excursion over the last couple of weeks.

The Year 7’s explored the area around their Campus’ as part of their Place and Liveability unit. Students mapped the route, collected data, and took fieldwork photos, which they later used to decide whether Mentone/Bentleigh East were ‘liveable areas’.

The Year 8’s ventured over to Mentone Beach as part of their Coastal Landscapes unit to witness the challenges we face maintaining our coastline. Students observed coastal erosion at the Mentone cliffs and stack, as well as dune erosion and longshore drift. They also saw the impact of human interventions, in particular pollution.

Both year levels had the opportunity to put their learning in the classroom, into action in the field, learning valuable skills and insights into our local environments.
