Journeying Together in Christ

There is not a day go by where our little foundation children do not say hello to me. They are at the beginning of the building so I gravitate that way. I thank them for making my day special.

Our Opening Mass was last Friday. Fr Jackson celebrated a beautiful mass. Our Year Six leaders were recognised and we prayed for a great year ahead.

Last Sunday (2nd Sunday of Lent) Fr Joe shared how special his 'chalice' (cup) is that he uses for mass. It was given to his Great Uncle Patrick Dullard and it is 98 years old. Sharing this with the congregation assisted us with understanding 'The Transfiguration' Matthew 17:1-9. It made me think and reflect on the time I ministered communion at the Pope's Mass at Randwick racecourse 2007.

Fr Joe and Fr Jackson have been using symbols, photos and special items with staff and students when explaining what message is in a reading, a word or a part of the mass. Relating the life of Jesus to everyday experiences is very powerful.

PLEASE, SORRY, THANK YOU

Being a leader is about modelling certain values and qualities. Every person is a leader. I spoke briefly with Year 5/6 yesterday at their unit assembly about being a a leader without a label. Having a badge or being named captain of a sporting team is an honour but actions are still required. Some of the best leaders are those who work behind the scenes. It is every persons responsibility to lead at some stage. If children want to know where to start, manners are a good starting point. Modelling these may support a trusting environment. Many children I come across each day say hello- a great starting point!
