Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Today was the start of our Harmony Week Celebrations.  Over the course of the day, students worked in multi-age groups as part of a rotation of activities that explored different countries and cultures.  This included making and eating Middle Eastern flat bread, creating a whole of school Chinese dragon and learning the art of Japanese origami.  Many thanks to Mel for her coordination of activities and to all staff for their planning, contribution and support of students in a great day of celebration!

Tomorrow, the celebrations will continue with learning of culture through dance, as students participate in a 'Dance Around the World'.  As a final celebration, families are invited to join us from 2.30pm tomorrow afternoon for a final presentation of the dances.  Due to the dance program, there will be no assembly tomorrow.

Tomorrow is also Ride to School Day and a (sun smart) casual dress day to raise funds for the purchase and upgrade of sports equipment.  Please send along a gold coin donation to support this cause and try to use active travel (ride, walk, scoot) as much as possible.

This year, we are excited to have Lucy Vardy volunteering with our students to help in the garden.  Last week, Lucy worked with some of our Year 4 students to weed, mulch and plant up some of the garden beds near the BER building.  Each Friday, Lucy will be spending time with students, working in the garden.  This is sure to help build pride in our gardens and we look forward to seeing these transform over the year.  Thank you Lucy!  A big thank you also to Ben Truan for supplying us with some much needed mulch for our gardens!

Next Thursday is School Photo Day!  Photo orders can be made online, through Compass.  For more information, please refer to the School Photo page of this newsletter.

Please contact Amanda and Joy if you have some fundraising ideas or time to help out!

We are still needing volunteers for the Year 3-6 Cluster Athletics on Monday 3rd of April.  If you can help out with events or the BBQ, please let Steph or the office know asap.  We are also now taking lunch orders for the day.
