1st XI 10/139 defeated by St Augustine’s College 10/187

2nd XI 8/102 defeated St Augustine’s College 8/217

1st XI v St Augustine’s College.

St Augustine’s 187 all out (Joel Austin 2-19, Andrew May 2-26)

St Pius X 139 all out (Manas Bansal 76)

The semi final match was played at Oxford Falls. The visitors won the toss and batted first. The top order came out aggressively and put the Pius team under pressure as the score mounted quickly. Regrouping at drinks with the score on 2 for 88, the home side’s bowling and fielding tightened up and in the 50th over the St Augustine’s last pair were dismissed. Lachlan Jurcevic took two catches, Flynn Pavely, Jesse Mansbridge, Manas Bansal and Oliver Freeman one each, while Joel Austin and Andrew May were the most successful of the bowlers. An early collapse made the chase a formidable one for the 1st XI but Manas Bansal played a fine innings of 76 to put the target within sight. Support from Darcy Aylmer and Oliver Freeman saw crucial partnerships formed but once Manas was dismissed the innings and season finished quickly. Thanks to all the parent supporters, our brilliant ground staff, umpires and to the team members who trained and played with great effort and spirit throughout the season.

1st XI v I Zingari.

A 25 over-a-side match against this club whose history dates back to 1888 was held on a gloomy afternoon. The 1st XI prevailed by 12 runs in a tight match in which Darcy Aylmer and Will Pavely batted with enterprise and the spinners followed up the good work of Jesse Mansbridge with the ball. Thank you to the I Zingari players for the opportunity to host them in what we hope will be an ongoing fixture.

Mr Pat Rodgers - 1st XI Cricket Coach

ISA Representative cricket.

The iconic Bradman Oval at Bowral was the scene for the final ISA representative match between the 1st and 2nd XI ISA teams on Sunday. SPX Captain Joel Austin recorded his third century for the season in making 101 before retiring as the 1st XI built a total of 283. Jesse Mansbridge (2 wickets) and Andrew May (3 wickets) were the best of the 2nd XI bowlers who were well captained by Will Pavely. Manas Bansal continued his fine form with the bat by scoring 51 having come to the crease with his team 3 for 6. Joel Austin took one wicket on the way to the 72 run victory but not before Jesse Mansbridge had launched a ball well over the boundary! The boys are to be congratulated on representing the school so impressively after the disappointment of the previous day’s cricket.

NSTA Tennis

The clouds disappeared for another amazing day of tennis today. Joseph Wilson, Henry Auer and Tyson Liu, SPX 28 as well as Micah Chan, Alex Zhang and Isaac Cheng, SPX 30 all had a great start to their weekends with both teams willing all games 18-7. Aiden Chan played a very close match against his opponent from Barker, just pipping him at the post winning 6-5, forming part of an overall win from SPX 23. The match of the morning had to be Jayden Meguerditchian vs Henry Burke. Both players were determined to win and it looked like Henry had the match in the bag until Jayden fought back to win 6-5. Well done to both boys! Thank you to our umpires for this week, Boston Bannister, Jake Yu and Adrian Yip. Although these boys are only in Years 7 and 8, they provided invaluable mentoring and help to the players on the courts today.

The 10:00 am matches went off without a hitch. They always seem a lot quieter and a lot more serious than the 8:00 am matches where we hear the excited banter of the Junior boys. Cooper and Spencer Anderson, SPX 8 dominated their games winning all 3 sets. Lucas Korth and Lachlan Yu, SPX 12 a team that was only formed this term, continued their winning streak, winning 18 games to 1. Ryan Fong, SPX 2 and Jake Yu, SPX 3 fought it out in their singles with Jake winning the tie break 7 games to 3. Thank you and well done to Alex DalMolin who played up in division 3 and won his singles in a close match 6-5.

Just a quick reminder that everyone needs to arrive at least 15 mins before the start of play so that they can warm up. Also, don’t forget to write your first and last names on the score sheet to help the convenors when entering the scores.

Mrs Sam Iwatani - NSTA Convenor

Senior Swimming Squad
