Our Journey through Lent

As we journey through our Lenten season, students will have heard the importance of our almsgiving, prayer life and fasting or restrained living in preparing ourselves for Easter. We still ask the boys to support Project Compassion so that others may lead a more dignified life. We hope to make a generous contribution to the work of CARITAS so that they can continue to assist those on the margins, in the same spirit as our Patron Blessed Edmund Rice.

Junior School Bible Liturgy

Next Tuesday 14 March our Junior School will gather in the parish of Our Lady of Dolours so that our newest students each receive a Bible from the College. As a school in the Edmund Rice tradition we desire to be led by our Touchstones, one of which is Gospel Spirituality. So as to be guided by the values of the Gospels, each student receives a Bible when they commence at Pius. Look out for photos of our Bible liturgy in next weeks Woodchatta.

Chapel Mass

Monday saw the commencement of Chapel Masses at Mercy College. It was a wonderful experience for students from both St Pius X College and Mercy College to gather together to celebrate the Eucharist. This Monday will see Pius host our Chapel Mass, that will be led by Mr Balboa’s Year 9 Religious Education class.

Eddie Rice Hours

Our Year 10 and 11 students are required to complete work in the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice – that is, assisting those on the margins. If any parents or caregivers have contacts to places where students can complete their Eddie Rice Hours it would be greatly appreciated. Noting that this program attempts to move beyond merely volunteering, it is more so about the people who we are assisting. Please contact me here at the College if you may have an initiative or if further clarification is needed.
