ART NEWS

Our students are continuing to enjoy exploring their creativity during their Visual Art lessons. This term has seen our junior students explore colour families, line and shape, and our middle and seniors, their own imaginations. As Albert Einstein said, “Logic will take you from A to B, imagination will take you everywhere!”.

Our junior students have been working hard to create vibrant, colourful fish, whilst experimenting with a range of different resources, including, oil pastels, crayons, paint, glitter, pipe cleaners and textas. Their artworks look so beautiful, and we are so proud of all of our junior artists!

Our middle and senior students are exploring their imaginations to create visual recounts, inspired by award winning Australian Author and Illustrator, Alison Lester’s books, “Imagine”, and “Sophie Scott Goes South”.  Our middle students applied the concept of the books, “Imagine”, to create their very own land, which were formed using five dot points:

  • Place
  • Day/Night
  • Weather
  • Creative inclusion
  • Creative inclusion

The Grade 3 and 4 students are having a wonderful time creating these magical, mythical lands!

The Grade 5 and 6 students are using the method of technical drawing to create their visual recounts. With the strong focus of line and shape, our students are doing an incredible job and we look forward to sharing their completed artworks shortly!

We continue to operate as a community of learners who respectfully appreciate each other’s ideas and celebrate one another’s creations. A key part of the Art room is the whole class pack up approach. Everyone has a role, and everything has a place…perhaps, you might like to ask your child how we go about packing up in Art? We are confident that you will be pleasantly surprised and who knows, it might even help you on the home front!

Take care everyone,
