Active Travel

Keep active as we all head back to school.

Since the last newsletter, things have changed as restrictions have been eased. Each morning this week, I have been stationed on Gate 2 welcoming students back to school. It has been wonderful to see students arrive with huge smiles on their faces and I have noticed that many have walked, some have scootered and some have even ridden their bikes from home.

All of our routines have changed over the last 2 months and for many of us, including me, we have been walking and riding more.

So, to help us keep our active routines going when everyone is back at school from Tuesday 9th June, please consider walking, scootering or riding to school. This will assist keeping traffic congestion around the school to a minimum during the drop off and pick up times.

Many students I know travel from neighbouring suburbs and it isn’t possible to walk or ride. An alternative for you would be to park a block away from the school and then walk the rest of the way. As everyone needs to enter through a specific gate, park a block away from that gate.

We are only 6 school days away from all being back at school. There isn’t a better time to plan and test out different routes to your designated school gate and choose which ones work best for you.

Stay well everyone, stay safe and stay active!
