Art Department

Students at PCW have continued to make some impressive artwork despite limitations with access to materials whilst working from home. And although we didn’t get to go and see the Catholic Art Show in person it has been made into a digital format which you’ll find a link to here: https://sites.google.com/cem.edu.au/creativeartsexhibition2020/

Whilst art excursions to Top Arts had to be put off the good news seems to be that Top Arts will run at the NGV until the end of the year so hopefully people keen to see some amazing senior art work, including PCW’s Juliana Neild, will get a chance to see that in person after the NGV reopens later this month. This is how the NGV describe Juliana’s work which they displayed under the category of Perception.

Throughout history, artists have encouraged us to see the world more deeply by capturing its complexity, beauty and challenges. ... Juliana Neild, a modern day Hericlitus, philosophically ponders the elusive concept of change through 144 etchings assembled to mirror a pair of searching eyes.

Below are a few of the gorgeous drawings done by Year 8 students who continued to explore the art elements of tone. form and texture, taking a detour from sculpture to develop their tonal drawing skills  with  both fantasy creatures from their imagination as well as creating their own still life arrangements at home for some studies from life.
