New Online Reading - Digital Library SORA

We have some very exciting news. St Augustine’s College is part of a consortium of schools in the Sandhurst Diocese which has subscribed to an ebook and audiobook platform called Overdrive. The app to use this is called “SORA”.

Sora link: login using your google email. Select the school first.

Go to https://soraapp.com/library/ceosand or use the Sora App on your ipad.

Choose “find my school” or type in the school name via location services, e.g. St Augustine’s College

Sign in using your school email.

More instructions on how it works can be found at:

General Overdrive Resource Centre

It has some great features: students can bookmark, highlight and make notes. They can keep these even after the book is returned. They can send them to a teacher as well. There is also the capability for students with reading difficulties, especially Dyslexia, to alter the text to make it easier to read. It also has a class set facility so that you can assign a set to a group of students.

National Simultaneous Storytime

On Wednesday of this week we have celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime where our students, along with more than one million students across Australia and New Zealand, listened to Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford. Students also did craft activities and listened to some Jazz music like the Divas in the story.

Library Books

We would love to see some resources borrowed by students, coming back to the library in the next few weeks to be changed over for some new reading. Just a reminder that Foundation, 1 and 2 students need to bring a bag to keep library books safe. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just strong enough to protect the books.

If students are still doing remote learning, our click and collect service still applies.

Check our library catalogue and put on a reserve. We’ll get the items to the College Office for you to collect.

Using the library catalogue online (WebOpac) accessed via SIMON under Library Links,

search for what you want and put a reserve on the item.

Login at the top right with your Library Number where it says guest eg 3201.

We will email you when it is available to collect.
