9-12 Community News

The 9-12 Community were incredibly excited to welcome our VCE students back to the College this week as we transitioned back to face-to-face learning.  It was wonderful to see all our Year 11 and 12 students return on Tuesday and lots of our Year 10 students, who participate in VCE and VET programs, were here bright and early on Wednesday.

After a long wait, our Year 12 Students were presented with their VCE jumpers during TA on Tuesday morning. They were certainly a welcome addition to the uniform on this cold morning. Students have made a smooth transition in adapting to the ‘new normal’ with all our protocols around cleaning and safe physical distancing practices. It was great to see so many bright and happy faces. The staff have missed you all.

Tuesday morning also saw the re-opening of our VCAL Café. As a thank you to staff for all their hard work and dedication over the past six weeks, the VCAL students shouted all staff to free coffees and milkshakes. These were greatly appreciated by the staff. Or VCAL team did an amazing job, completing 75 food and beverage orders in the two hour block.

Year 11s are currently having VCE program interviews with Mrs Anderson. We strongly encourage all students and families to take advantage of these interviews to discuss their VCE programs and pathways.

In the coming weeks, Years 9 and 10 TAs will be in contact with families to discuss feedback on students’ engagement relating to the remote learning programs that were undertaken this term.

As our Year 9 and 10s continue with remote learning, we are constantly amazed by the work that is being produced and shared. Two examples of this are below. In Sports Coaching, students had to create and participate in a coaching session for a sport of their own choice. Tess Laidlaw created an exceptional piece of work with her slide show, with embedded videos, of a netball training program.

And, in Visual Arts, students have been working on a Free Choice Artwork. This involves students writing an artist proposal, documenting research, exploring materials and techniques and then creating the final artwork. Below is a sample page of research by Ali Backway.
