Aboriginal Education Update.

The dates for National Reconciliation Week remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. This year it falls in weeks 5 and 6 and our school will be learning about the Stolen Generations and Reconciliation in Australia.  National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Tuesday of week 5, the 26th of May is National Sorry Day and is held each year to acknowledge and recognise members of the Stolen Generations

This week in spread the word, we shared the word ‘egg’ with you all in a few Aboriginal Languages. All of the words we are sharing are relevant to the ‘Emu in the Sky’ Dreaming that some of our Aboriginal students researched last year and will be incorporating into our Healing Circles near the vegetable garden
