Assistant Principal - Curriculum

Year 7-11 teachers this week engaged with families in a conversation based on Semester One learning. Once again, in a spirit of ‘can-do’, these occurred via telephone and, for junior students, were based on bespoke reports that reflected the range of learning situations encountered in 2020. I thank parents for their engagement in these important partnership conversations; partnerships which are in the weird world of 2020, more important than ever.

The College Leadership Team regularly conducts Learning Walks and Talks to know what our students are learning and what they are achieving. The interactions with students in these classroom interactions focus on what is being learned, on an understanding of what is required for success and on whether students understand how to improve and where and how to access help. Learning Walks and Talks give students an opportunity to articulate what they know about their learning and to ‘own’ their very important role in it. They are also opportunities to observe the effectiveness of the professional learning and collaborative work of teachers.

Just a reminder that the HSC Trials will commence on Monday 17 August (Week 5, Term 3). I encourage Year 12 students to use the break to consolidate their learning and prepare thoroughly for these exams.

Finally, enjoy the upcoming break; stay safe and well. We look forward to Term 3and the continued resumption of the things we miss.
