Senior & Middle School

Welcome to EMC 2021!

Dear Parents and Students,

To ensure a smooth start to the year please read through the following information.

We are looking forward to the support of families in the matters below to ensure a positive learning partnership which allows us to focus on student learning. If your family needs any financial or well being support with the expectations below, please contact your child’s Home Group Teacher, or the Administration staff for financial assistance.

Starting back

Monday February 1st all students returned to full classes according to their Compass schedule.

The end of day finish time has changed from 2:56pm to 3:00pm for 2021. This change has been made to allow a couple of extra minutes during the changeover time that students move from classroom to classroom.

As the timetable is currently being finalised, student schedules may not be up to date yet. Please check you Compass schedule for the correct information.

Uniform

Please see the EMC Dress Code on our website if you are unsure of expectations. If the Uniform shop is out of stock on a particular item, students should arrive in as much of their full uniform as possible, with a note from parents regarding the missing item.

Some key reminders:

  • Plain navy jumpers or plain jackets are NOT part of EMC uniform (eg. polar fleece jumpers or puffer jackets); Uniform by Design has the new EMC rugby jumpers and soft shell jackets are available.
  • One small unobtrusive stud-style nose piercing is acceptable; nose rings are not acceptable
  • Shoes must be black, polishable, leather, with a heel; runners or skate shoes are only permitted in the Sport Uniform
  • Socks must be plain navy or white, no logos. This is included in the Sport Uniform, only plain navy or white
  • EMC Sport uniform includes EMC navy leggings; black leggings are not permitted
  • EMC Sport uniform includes EMC navy shorts; no other alternative shorts are permitted (eg footy shorts)
  • Students are now permitted to wear their EMC PE uniform for the whole day of their practical lessons. Teachers will confirm what day/s this is; normal EMC uniform must be worn on all other days.

We request parents/carers talk to their children about wearing the correct uniform, and support them in wearing the EMC uniform with pride.

Covid Safe Practices

The College continues to take advice from DET and the Victorian Chief Health Officer to keep our community safe. It is important that students follow these expectations for Term 1:

  • Physical distancing is still required at all times; both indoors and outside. A 1.5 square metre distance is the current requirement.
  • Carry a clean face mask at all times.
  • If you can’t physically distance, staff and students must wear their well-fitted mask. Spare masks are available in sub-school offices, if needed.
  • Use external pathways to reduce internal traffic, where possible.
  • Hand sanitiser will be provided to students at main entry doors and in classrooms but we recommend students carry their own pocket sized bottle.
  • Bring own water bottle and avoid sharing with others.

Please discuss these requirements with your child prior to their return to school.

Lockers

All students will have their new locker allocated to them on their start date. Please bring your combination lock with you, and look out for an email from Mr Ferra in the coming days with more information.

Mobile Phones

Reminder of the EMC Mobile Devices Policy which requires students to put any smart devices in their locker at the start of the day until the end of the day. Phones will be confiscated if sighted during the day (including breaks) and returned at 3:00pm from Student Services. Repeat infractions will incur consequences.

Regards,
