A Message from Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present and emerging.

Wominjeka

Last Tuesday we held our first social event for the school year - our Wominjeka picnic. It was fantastic to see so many families come along to enjoy the weather, pizza & popcorn and (most importantly) each others’ company.

Our school calendar is filled with a variety of community events; some are aimed at raising funds, some intend to share student learning with our families and some are simply aimed at connecting our community. Tuesday night was a huge success in that third goal!

The afternoon kicked off with Uncle Bill conducting a Welcome to Country in the undercover area. Students and adults alike got to enjoy hearing about the values and stories that the Wurunjeri have practiced for thousands of years. We appreciated having Uncle Trevor stay at school for so long, sharing the meaning and use behind ancient artifacts, demonstrating ochre painting and telling us some incredible stories.

We thank everyone who helped our shared success: our families who attended the evening, volunteers who helped buy, make and sell refreshments, OSHC who work with the school on our RAP as well as our brand new CET group, led by Anne and Brigid. With this as a taste-test, we can’t wait to see what

Class Representatives

Next Monday in Sprout at 9am, we will be having our second get together for our amazing Adult Class Representatives. We would love to see everyone who has put their name down to be a class rep at the meeting, but understand that 9am on a Monday morning may not suit. As we have this term, we will continue to schedule two get-togethers per term (one after school, and one in the morning) to try and accommodate everyone’s varied timetables and commitments. Sprout will be open for anyone who would like a coffee while we meet.

Design Competition

We know we have an incredibly creative and talented group of students, of whom we are very proud, but we are still taken aback by the response to our thank you card call-out. We need one more week to work through the submission short-list and will be sharing the details of our design winners next week!
