Acting Principal's Message

START OF THE YEAR

Thank you to students, parents, and staff for a wonderful start to the 2023 school year.

We welcomed our Prep students on Monday 6th Feb, it was wonderful to see the students walk in with confidence and a look of excitement and anticipation. The whole school has commenced the year by inquiring into the Transdisciplinary Theme, Who We Are, this is an inquiry into the nature of the self, beliefs and values, relationships, cultures and social and spiritual health. This approach provides students the opportunity to CONNECT through exploring relationships, community, cultures, and identity.

Staffing

Phil Tang our School Technician has been working at Mount View for the past  6 years Phil has chosen to further his career and move to the UK in early March working with a renowned software company. Congratulations to Justin Bacon who has been appointed  as the Technical Support To Schools Program (TSSP) Specialist Technician/ Over the next couple of weeks Phil will be working alongside Justin to upskill him in his new role of Mount View School Technician.

Picnic Table

During 2022 the school community contributed to many fundraising activities such as Sausage Sizzle, Student Disco, Second Hand Uniform, Carnival and book club sales. As a result, the school was able to purchase a satellite round table made of recycled plastic. This table will provide the students with a space to play social activities, games and a place to eat their snack or lunch.

PTMAYC

On Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th February from 3:45- 6pm parents have the opportunity to share with their child’s teacher any educational, social or wellbeing needs or concerns. These meetings will take place onsite in your child’s classroom.

TISSUES

This year we are kindly asking our Mount View community to donate a box of tissues for their child’s classroom.  Your children’s education and safety is our highest priority and we need to stretch every precious dollar as far as we can in doing this.  We were flabbergasted to discover the cost of purchasing boxes of tissues for our classrooms last year. Could you please help by supplying one box of tissues that can be shared with the students in your child's class. Thank you so much for your support!

Robotics

Students at Mount View can participate in an extracurricular activity after school, Robotics. This program involves students understanding Computer science and its impact on the role it plays for  our children as they lead into future careers and jobs. Hats

All students are required to wear hats in Term 1. We encourage all students to take an active responsibility in the role of sun protection. Your child’s hat needs to protect the face, neck and ears for maximum protection. Mount View school hats can be purchased at Primary School Wear. PSW can be found at the back of Officeworks on Springvale road in Glen Waverley.

Health Eating Policy

At Mount View we promote healthy eating habits and encourage students and families to commit to a whole school approach to Healthy eating. As a school community we show this by:

  • Supporting healthy food choices (children having nutritious lunch and snacks)
  • Parents informing classroom teacher/nurse of dietary requirements.
  • Providing students with a diverse, nutritious canteen lunch menu

For special occasions, we ask that parents choose healthy choices not lollies, confectionary. Parents are also encouraged to notify the classroom teacher 24hrs prior, if they’re going to bring a food item to school for their child to share with their class.

Please refer to Mount View PS Healthy Eating Policy on Compass- School Documentation.
