OHS/ICT/PE 

Hello SoGS community! 

Well what a start to the year it has been! Our Physical Education program has literally hit the ground running! 

The 2023 SoGS Cross Country Team was selected and will be training over the next month to get ready for the upcoming district event on Thursday 30th March. 

Our Interschool Sport competition began last Friday against Sirius College. The students performed to the best of their ability and made their school, families, and themselves very proud! Remember if you are able to support your child you are more than welcome to come down and cheer them on!

The school was also fortunate enough to secure a Sports Grant from the Australian Federal Government through the Sporting Schools Initiative. The funds have been used to enhance the Physical Education Program by having Specialist Coaches in the field of Hockey, Netball and Lacrosse for our Year 4, 5 and 6 students come in and run a number of sessions over the month of March. 

OH & S

Keeping the students, staff and community safe is a never ending process. We have recently had some branches removed from low lying trees and have topped up the soft fall in our garden and play areas. We have also installed a fixed bike and scooter rack near the sports shed which allows our students a safer option in keeping their bikes or scooters at school.  

ICT

Our Grade 5 and 6 parents have recently attended the Chromebook Rollout Night. It was well attended and students, staff and families took away some very important strategies and information in regards to making sure that they are responsible cyber citizens. 

Parents also were able to sign the Chromebook Contract that now allows the Year 5 and 6 students to take their device home. 

Year Prep - 4 contracts will be coming home this week and will need to be returned to the classroom teacher. A reminder that in Prep to Year 4 students DO NOT get to take their Chromebook home.
