Sports days for Classes

It is very important that children wear their sports uniform on their dedicated sports day and bring a drink bottle (or two on the hot days).

 

Monday - 1 MC,  1 LC,  4 DC,  4 SF,  5 JR

Tuesday -  5 RO,  5 JT,  6 LG,  6 KT, FHE, FSN

Wednesday - 2 RB, 3 MR, 3 KM, 1 MD

Thursday – 4 RS, FME, 6 TR, 2 FM, 3 AH

 

The Fastest Class Challenge

The whole school will compete to see which class is the fastest by running as many laps as possible in 5 minutes. The 5 minutes running time will take place any time during the day. This competition will take place for two weeks (10 days). It will commence on Monday February 27th and finish on Friday 10th March. The winning class will be presented with ‘The Fastest Class’ trophy.

 

2023 Team Vic State Team Trials

Registrations are now open for any child (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the Victorian State Teams. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victorian students to challenge themselves against Australia’s best school aged athletes across numerous sports at the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinate the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

Please see the new Team Vic Principal Endorsement Sheet process for the following teams in 2023:

  • Australian Football 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)
  • Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls/Boys (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years & Under Boys (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)
  • Netball 12 Years & Under Girls (Closes on Wednesday 1st March, 2023)

Children are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is not a ‘Come and Try’ system. Children are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

Colac Primary Lawn Bowls Tournament

Over the next two weeks, the Year 5 and 6 classes will learn about the game of Lawn Bowls. A number of children will be selected to represent Sacred Heart at the Colac Primary Schools Lawn Bowls Championships. This will take place on Monday 27th February at the Colac Bowling Club (near the lake).

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6 (note change of date)

The Sacred Heart Swimming sports will take place on Thursday 23rd February at Blue Water Fitness Centre. All children from Years 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. The swimming sports will start at 9.45 am and finish at 1.15 pm. Children will walk to Bluewater.

Football Clinics

On Wednesday 8th March, children in Years 1 and 2 will participate in a football clinic organised by AFL Barwon. Children will need to wear their sports uniform on this day and may also like to wear a football jumper. Football boots are not required. 

 

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival

The Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival will take place on Friday 10th March at Colac Central Reserve. All children from Years 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. It will include many of the track and field activities including High Jump, Shot Put, Discus, 100m, 200m, Relays etc. The sports will start at approximately 9.40 am and finish at 1.20 pm. Children will walk to the Central Reserve. Children may still have a lunch order on this day.

 Name: Natalie Farquharson (Yr. 5 RO)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Netball is my favourite game because I love defending.

2. What is your best sporting moment? When I came 1st  for the first time in Badminton.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My confidence to have a go at anything in sport.

4. Why do you love playing sports? It keeps me entertained and active.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Anyone in the Melbourne Vixens netball teams. Why are they your favourite? The Melbourne Vixens inpire me to play netball.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Melbourne Vixens netball team.

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Netball is my favourite sport because it requires skill and I enjoy playing it.

2. What is your best sporting moment? When I shot the most goals for my netball team.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? I like to run and I love playing in teams.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Why are they your favourite?

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is soccer.

2. What is your best sporting moment? When I headed a goal in soccer.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My determination is one of my strengths. 

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and challenging.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite player is Sam Kerr who is a soccer player. Why are they your favourite? She is my favourite player because she is a really good and she seems to be very kind.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? The Matilda’s, the Australia's women's national soccer team.

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sport is football because I can be rough without getting into trouble.

2. What is your best sporting moment? When I shot a quarter court shot in basketball.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths in sport are my stamina and my strength.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I want to stay fit and I find playing sport lots of fun.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Harper Van Doorn, my best friend at school. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite sports person because he is very good at all sports.
