VCE Vocational Major
VCE Vocational Major & Senior VCAL
The students have started the year well. They have settled into their new classes and adjusted to the new routines and expectations. They will undertake a range of activities both on and off campus throughout the year. The students will be on campus three days a week for their core subjects. They will be off-campus two days a week gaining valuable, practical experience in their TAFE courses and their Structured Work placements.
The structure of the Applied Learning Program will give students greater choice and more flexibility to pursue their strengths and interests and develop the skills and capabilities needed to succeed in further education, work, and life. It also requires the students to be organised so they can meet the expectations of their teachers, stay up to date with their TAFE course and be on time for their employers.
Students will undertake a variety of learning tasks and experiences in each of their subjects this year. The program has been designed to be dynamic and to engage the students in a range of learning experiences. There will be several incursions and excursions throughout the year. The students have already participated in the Lifesaving program at Mordialloc Beach, got their hands dirty working in the Food Security Network Garden, and helped clean up the Mentone beach foreshore.
For those families who were unable to attend the information evening, a copy of the presentation was emailed home. You will find an overview of each of the subjects and units the students will be studying this year. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the content. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
