Positive Climate for Learning

A Spotlight on English

The start of this year is already flying by so quickly!!!

During the first week, all new teaching staff attended a professional learning session that was presented by Hayley Howard and Michelle Thomas. During this session, they learnt about how to collect reading data that is in line with the Science of Reading.

This has now transpired in every classroom across Years P-9 where teachers have been taking the time to sit and listen to their students read, which will help them make informed decisions for planning and teaching.

Further to this in our classrooms staff have been working hard to set up really clear routines and expectations so that each student is getting the most out of their learning time.

Things that are coming up over the rest of this term will be the continuation of data collecting, unpacking the data as a collective to understand where our students are at and creating small intervention (TLI) groups for students who require additional support in English.
