Learning in Year 1

This term Year 1’s PYP unit has been, ‘How we Express Ourselves’. As a part of this unit, we have been learning about how artists express themselves through their artworks with colour, line and shape.

Inspired by the Archibald Art Competition, currently at the Art Gallery of NSW, Year 1 had their own art competition called ‘Mini Archies’, where they had to create an artwork of someone that is special to them.

We were thrilled to see the amount of detail that the students put into their artworks!

Mr Weekes and Mrs Ivancic judged the classes and picked the winners of the ‘Year 1 St Greg’s Mini Archies competition’.

The students were so excited for their peers who placed. Well done Year 1!

Old Girls visit

As part of the Year 6 Transition Program, the first four 'Old Girls', who graduated last year, came back to visit the Junior School and share their experiences and advice with Year 6 students.  Earlier this term Year 7 boys also visited Year 6 to share their advice.

Sarah, Megan, Grace and Annabelle were not short on tips for starting high school, including “make sure you are organised”, “start using your diary well, it will be your best friend” and

“be yourself.”

It was wonderful to see the girls have made a smooth transition into St Patrick’s Girls College and have participated in lots of sports and events.
