From the Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School

Mr Paul Brooks

End of Year Examinations

By now, all students in Years 7-10 should be well and truly into a regular routine of revision and study for the upcoming yearly examinations. All students will have received an assessment task notification setting out the structure, timing and content to be covered in these examinations for each of their subjects. It is important that boys continue to work solidly and diligently in the remaining days of classes to prepare well for these exams. Students in Years 9 and 10 commence examinations on Friday 27 November and students in Years 7 and 8 begin their examinations on Monday 30 November. We wish all students the very best and trust that they will be rewarded for their efforts in preparing to do their best in each of their examinations.

Staff Changes

Mrs Lucia (Lucy) Martin will be concluding her time at St Gregory’s College to take up a new position at Holy Spirit Bellambi in 2021.

Lucy commenced her employment at St Greg’s in January 2005, meaning that her span of service to the College will be sixteen years by the end of this year. Lucy has given wonderful service to the St Gregory’s College community during this time as a highly valued staff member.

During her years at the College, Lucy has held the roles of e-learning Coordinator along with her current leadership position of HSIE Coordinator which she commenced in 2016.  In her role as HSIE Coordinator, Lucy has successfully mentored many beginning teachers who are now fulltime members of the department or have successfully moved into other positions. Lucy has been a great supporter of pre-service teachers at the College. She has always volunteered to take on the next generation of teachers and help introduce them to the profession.

Lucy has always been generous in offering her students additional time during the day, after school and during term breaks to support them. In addition, she has also led two overseas trips, including an immersion to Fiji and the Vietnam Study Tour.

We take this opportunity to extend our congratulations to Lucy on this new appointment. We sincerely thank Lucy for her many and varied contributions to the St Gregory’s College community over the past 16 years and we offer her our very best wishes and blessings as she embarks on the change to a new school in 2021.

Replacing Mrs Martin in the position of Leader of Learning - HSIE will be Dr James Gersbach. James has been one of the two HSIE Leaders at the College for the past two years. From 2021, he will be taking responsibility for all courses and staff in the HSIE area. We congratulate James on this appointment.
