Quilting donations

Thanks to the generous donations of fabric, scissors, needles and thread from members of our community, Year 5 students have created individual squares for three class quilts. We are now at the stage where we are sewing the squares together into strips and will be starting to put the quilts together. We are again asking for donations from our parent community - if you have any wadding/batting or large pieces of plain fabric (that could be used as backing fabric) that you would be happy to donate to our project, please contact Jess Lund (jlund@friends.tas.edu.au) or drop at the Morris Office. The finished quilts will be approximately 60 x 60 inches (around 150cmx150cm).

Inaugural Virtual International Marimba Festival

Marimba ensembles from Year 5 to 12 recently recorded performances for entries into the first-ever Virtual International Marimba Festival, to be held from 1 to 13 December. The entries have been shared with students and family members are warmly invited to watch the performances through the students’ school Google accounts. For reasons of copyright, the recordings need to be kept secure.

Reminder: TCE/IB Art Exhibition

The TCE/IB Art Exhibition is opening on Thursday 5 November 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the opening night is an invite-only event, however, the exhibition will be open for everyone to enjoy from Friday 6 November until Friday 20 November, 9.00am - 3.30pm Monday - Friday. There will be some amazing artwork on display from some very talented students so we do encourage members of our community to drop by during those opening hours to view this stunning exhibition.

Reminder: CIE/CIS Self Study Survey

The CIE/CIS Self Study Survey has been emailed to parents, students (Years 5 to 12), staff and Board members. The Friends’ School has conducted a Council of International Schools (CIS) survey over the last six years and invited community members to respond. The survey results provide an opportunity to compare the School’s participation since 2014.  Details of the 2018 report can be viewed here.  We encourage and appreciate your participation in this valuable survey.
