Levels 1 & 2

Level 1 Update

Level 1 has had an exciting week exploring their Inquiry Topic of Weather & Seasons. 1P did a science experiment, looking at the way plants absorb water through celery and food dye. They wrote a hypothesis about what they thought would happen, a reflection of what actually happened, and a reason why they thought this occurred.

Mr K ran another amazing science experiment with all of level 1, exploring how clouds are created.

The students then practiced their craft skills and made beautiful Carp Fish to use on a windy day to see how wind can move objects.

For Literacy, the level 1s have been writing information texts about Aliens that we made up. We wrote subheadings which described their appearance, super powers and diet. We practiced using Vinnie Vocab WOW words and Penny Punctuation full stops and capital letters.

Level 2 Update

Level 2 have been very busy creating their habitat dioramas for Inquiry. The students have been creative and resourceful, using lots of different items to represent their chosen habitat

For my diorama, I did Antarctica. I added  three penguins. Two are in the air and one was on Antarctica. The one on Antarctica had five eggs and a seal with two young. There is a killer whale in the water with one on Antarctica and two in the air because they are jumping.  There is three icebergs in the water. In the water there is also three ice bergs and there is also 8 pieces of snow coming from the air and a sun.

I worked on the rainforest and I also have tigers and I made a huge waterfall. There is lots of trees and I put a lot of mud there. There is also lots of snakes and monkeys and more. I put a river and rocks. In the water there is fish and also lots of ants.

I did something great… I did my diorama! My diorama is a cave and grassland. It has a very sleepy bat and a creepy old bear. On top it has two trees and two bushes. They is also a cheeky little rabbit behind the project. The trees are wonky (very).

For my diorama I did the Savanah. I have a big rock on the side for the Lion, a tall tree for the Giraffe, a water hole for the Zebra and the laughing Elephant and some long grass.

I did a desert. I included a snake, a cactus and other desert plants. I think most of 2H is doing the ocean and I think it’s because 2H is an ocean habitat.
