From the Principal

Dear Parents  and Guardians

School Photos

Our school photos will be held this Monday16th November. All students are expected to be in complete summer uniform.  All COVID safe requirements will be put into place whilst students are being photographed. Photos,  as of Tuesday evening,  are  now allowed to be taken either inside or outside so the photos will be taking place no matter the weather.

Prep Transition

On Wednesday we welcomed our 2021 Foundation (Prep) students. The children embraced the opportunity to  experience school life onsite and had a wonderful time. There was a lot of excitement  and the children thoroughly enjoyed the many activities.  Starting school is an exciting time but can also be overwhelming for many children. COVID restrictions have meant that only ten children can come onsite at a time and parents have had to drop off their children at the church gate and leave.  The  confidence and resilience displayed by every child was amazing.  The next sessions will be held on Wednesday the 18th November.   At yesterdays sessions the children met the Prep teachers for 2021. They are Mrs Antonella, Mrs Boyhan and Mr Cotchett

Graduation

Graduation will take place for our Yr 6 students on Thursday the 10th December. I thank the committee for their organisation of the evening.  A letter will be sent out to the Yr 6 parents soon regarding the arrangements.  These arrangements are continually changing. We now can commence the evening with an outdoor mass for the students.  We will be streaming the evening to parents.  Further details on this will be in the letter sent.  Thank you for your understanding with regards to  no parents being allowed this year at graduation.

Congratulations to our cricket team  (term 1) who were declared the North Balwyn District premiers for 2021. Great effort

Naidoc Week

This week we are celebrating Naidoc Week and  are immersing our students in a variety of activities to enrich their knowledge and understanding ofFirst Nations people who have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists.  https://www.naidoc.org.au/about/naidoc-week.

We were fortunate to have Uncle Ian Hunter talk to our students on Monday via google meets. It was an honour to listen to him for an hour.  Thank you to Larissa who helped organise the talk.

Have a great week
