Return of Leased Computers

At this time of the year three years ago we were busy sorting out the first round of our leased computer offering. These computers come to the end of their lease in December this year. I have tried a number of times to correspond with the relevant students and parents and this is the final reminder about what student need to do.

If you have a leased computer that is at the end of the lease this year, that is you have had it for 3 years, then that computer must be returned to the school between Monday 7th December and Friday 11th December 2020. At this point DET regulations state that the computer must be reimaged, and Windows 10 will be installed on the computer. If the student is going to continue to use the computer at school in 2021, then it will be set up for the College’s network. Students will need to load the appropriate free software from the College’s intranet. Students must ensure they have a backup of all data on the computer as this will be erased in the reimage process. If your family wishes to keep the computer then the same computer will be returned to you.

Year 9 students who are still at school will need to give in the computer later in the week and pick it up in end of year activities week, when they will not need the computer.

Please note that from the start of 2021 the computer is then the property of the student, the computer is considered a BYOD and the following apply:

  • Technician support is limited to only assisting students whilst they load the settings required to the College wireless network and internet access.
  • The College technicians cannot fix software or hardware issues for these devices.
  • There is no insurance or warranty coverage for the device.

If any parent still wishes to start a lease of a Lenovo Windows device, please contact the College and we can arrange for that to occur.

For 2020 Year 12 students they need to bring in their computer that has the College image on it so that it can be reimaged with Windows10. If this is not done after three months of not being connected to the College’s intranet the device will stop working.
