School Council Elections 2020 - Ballot Procedure

To all BPS Parents and Caregivers,

Re: School Council Elections 2020

Each year, we hold school council elections at Brighton Primary School during term 1. This year, we have two parent vacancies on school council and we are fortunate that four parents have submitted self-nomination forms for these two parent vacancies. I have attached a brief statement about the four candidates outlining their background, several reasons why they would like to join school council and the skills/attributes / contributions they would bring to the school. On behalf of the school community, I extend my gratitude and sincere appreciation to our four nominees - Neil Brennan, Clint Miller, Alison Druce and Andrew Campbell – who have put themselves forward to serve on school council for the next two years.

On Monday students brought home an envelope containing two parent/carer ballot papers – one ballot paper for each parent/ carer – as well as a hardcopy of the profile statements written by these four candidates nominated for school council. I would ask that parents read the candidate statements carefully and then complete the associated parent ballot paper.

To cast your vote, you must:

Tick the box beside the name of your preferred two candidates. Please note: your vote will be invalid if you vote for more than two candidates.
Place the completed ballot paper(s) in the blank envelope(s) marked ‘election’ with your voter’s name and address written on the back and either;

a. Visit the office between 8:30am and 4:30pm on any school day, including the day of the closure of the ballot, placing the envelope containing the completed ballot paper(s) in the ballot box,

b. Place the ‘election’ envelopes in the second plain/postal envelope and post it to reach the principal,

Before closure of the ballot at 4:00 pm on Tuesday 10th March 2020.

Lastly, on behalf of Brighton Primary School, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding contributions that our outgoing school council members, Scott Bull and Enda Cunningham have made to the school. Your enthusiasm, ability to see the big picture and commitment to our school, students and learning are sincerely appreciated. Thank you to both Scott and Enda.
