ACC Sport & House News

Term 2 Sport
Welcome to online sport for term 2! Unfortunately there are no E-Games going to played online and we are still encouraging all students to get outside and exercise at least once a day.
ACC Term 1 – Team of the Year
We would like to congratulate the following students on being selected in the ACC Term 1 Team of the Year for their chosen sports. It was disappointing we did not get to play the Grand finals for Volleyball and Cricket, but there were enough preliminary games to determine these prestigious teams. Congratulations to the following students:
ACC Cricket- Jordan McDonnell, Matthew Maiolo & Kurt Tellis
ACC Tennis – Sam Kim
ACC Volleyball – Quinn Tennent, Michael Olak, Ethan Hele, Terrence A’Hearn, Kurt Tchia
Mazcom- Mazenod Sport & Physical Education
Mr Phibbs has led the sports department in putting together some online activities and skill sessions that can be done by students following web links. It can be easily found on Mazcom under the Sport title. It gives some tips and videos on general exercises that can and should be done. There are also many apps that can be downloaded and are easy to follow. We are encouraging that when students were timetabled to do sport or PE that they use this time to complete at least 30 minutes of exercise. It can be as simple as a 30 minute walk, ride or home-made exercise circuit. PE teachers are always available for emails and happy to share ideas with students.
ACC Sport
Unfortunately it looks like there will be NO ACC Sport in Term 2. The ACC Exec are looking how the last few weeks of Term and Term 3 will look if we are given the all clear to resume normal school activities. There have been a number of Colleges presenting ideas on how we can run ACC Sports and it maybe some marque games of football and soccer and /or a combined Term 3 Sports schedule. We have tentatively booked August 18th to hold the ACC Athletics at Albert Park and will look at running the Badminton and Golf days as well. We are certainly working towards running some if not all ACC Sports if we have the approval from all relevant bodies.
Sporting Feats & Treats
Social media is full of some great videos made of sports stars and the general public putting together some amazing sporting feats using basketball rings, home-made goals and putting obstacle courses. If any student has or is inspired to try and make their own video we would love to see it and publish it? Obviously we do not want any risk taking or inappropriate content but some fun ways in which you can make a sporting feat a standout. We would love to publish some over the coming weeks. Once complete contact the sports department to check if it can be approved for general watching.
