Geelong Advertiser Prep Photos

As you may be aware the Geelong Advertiser visited our school earlier in the year to take My First Year group photos.  The time has finally come for the photos to be published in the Geelong Advertiser this Wednesday 25 March, 2020.

As their front counter is now closed, the Geelong Advertiser is still taking photo orders however advise that to get your photo quicker it's best to order a digital version which can be emailed directly to you. You can still order physical prints however with the current climate these could take some time with a lot of small businesses closing for isolation purposes.

Please see attached our My First Year photo order form below which you can download, fill in your details and email to office@geelongadvertiser.com.au and they will process your photos throughout the coming weeks.

Mr Lindsay: Writing

Tyler: “If we don't hold the pencil the right way we might not write easily. When we write we can think about the letter and sounds.”

Hazel: “I’m remembering that we need to think about the sounds we can hear. We can write the sounds sometimes.”

Felicity: “When we are writing we are trying to remember to use our High Frequency Wordlist to check that we are spelling words the right way.”

Mrs Fletcher: Reading

Quotes from Prep/1 Fletcher about reading;

Tex: “We use Stretchy Snake to stretch out the words when we are sounding out”

Oscar F: “We use Eagle Eye to look at the pictures and work out the words”

Gannon: “We read the book over and over again to be a good reader”

Mrs Wells: Numeracy

Hunter: Fractions are equal parts of a whole.

Poppy: The bottom number is called a denominator and the top number is called a numerator.

William: The bottom number of a fraction tells us how many parts to cut something into and the top number tells us how many to focus on.

Miss Kearney: Indonesian

Amelia- “Learning about Indonesian has been lots of fun!”

Emily- “We have learnt how to say hello and count to 10.”

Ruby- “My favourite part is when we play number Snap with my friends.”

Last week the Junior School had a visit from Liz and her dog Garth from Responsible Pet Ownership. Students learnt what dogs and cats need, how to read their emotions and how to approach dogs safely.
