Sturt, Russell, Morrison Streets Traffic Lights

Regional Roads Victoria(RRV) are installing traffic lights at the Sturt, Russell, Morrison streets intersection to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow.

RRV were expected at this intersection from 15-21 July to prepare for the activation of the recently installed traffic lights, weather permitting.  The lights were installed earlier this year, and some final work will need to be undertaken before the lights can be activated.  Crews will be installing infrastructure and undertaking line marking works, before the signals are activated later in July.

Traffic impacts

Expect to see minor traffic management measures in place during this work, including 40km/h speed limits and lane closures.  Detours may also be required at times and some night works may be undertaken.  Access for all local residences will be maintained.

What happens next

Once the signals are activated, the school crossing on Sturt Street, near Loreto College, will be removed and students and other pedestrians will be encouraged to use the new set of lights to cross Sturt Street. We will also be removing the right-turn movement from Hamilton Avenue to Sturt Street.
