Year 12 Students

Year 12 students are reminded that they only have a maximum of ten weeks of class left (8 this term and potentially 2 next term). Students should be using this time to really put their effort into their school work to ensure they achieve the very best results they can.

Carefully considering their Semester 1 report and grades will assist students to work out what they need to work on. Congratulations to those students who have excellent Semester 1 reports. They now need to ensure they remain focussed until the very end of term as a poor result in an assessment can greatly affect their achievement in the subject. Students are encouraged to have regular conversations with their teachers to ensure that they are progressing towards the grades they need to achieve graduation.

Year 11 ATAR Plant Production Systems

The Year 11 ATAR students have been closely monitoring the investigation they set up in Term 2.  It has grown over the holidays and they will continue weekly measurements until Week 4.

Students are required to work together in small groups to measure each individual plant, record the data, make any observations on growth and obtain an average for each soil type.

They are investigating the effect of different soil types (sand, clay and potting mix) on plant growth using a Rockstar Wheat variety and also looking at the effect of an organic liquid seaweed fertiliser on half of the plant trial. Students will then analyse the data, produce graphs and discuss the findings in their investigation write-up.

Yr12 ATAR Plant Production Systems

The Year 12 ATAR students have also been monitoring their investigation. Students are required to work together in small groups to measure each individual plant, record the data, make any observations on plant growth and obtain an average for each soil type.

Whilst their investigation is similar to that of the Year 11 students, they are investigating the effect of different soil types (sand, clay, loam and potting mix) on plant growth using a Vixen Wheat variety using a standard pellet NPKS fertiliser. Students will then analyse the data, graph and discuss the findings in their investigation write-up.

Year 11 ATAR Animal Production Systems

The class went on a tour of the Farm visiting the Dairy (waterfall) and Beef (river & top of hill) to look at examples of land degradation in the animal enterprises. Like everywhere there is a lot of evidence of erosion from all the rain!
