Boarding

Welcome Josh and thank you

A huge thankyou to the Western District Health Service for catering for the Boarding House for the start of Term Two and providing us with evening meals and a continental breakfast every morning, with the choice of lunches from ‘Hello Fresh’. Boarders were able to choose from freshly made wraps, rolls or sandwiches with a snack of Lemon slice, popcorn, and many more. Thank you for all the assistance you have provided to us in these difficult times.

We are now fortunate to welcome our new chef into the Boarding House, who has plenty of experience in this field. Josh, a Hamilton local, has been working tirelessly to create a menu for boarders to look at and ensure they have a copy, with plenty of nutritious meals and a wholesome dessert to follow with every meal. Josh has included many old traditions and has also introduced new ones to ensure there is variety for boarders.

On behalf of all boarders, I would very much like to thank Josh for the meals he has provided us so far. On Monday, the roast lamb, pork and chicken, including roast pumpkin, corn, peas, and a lovely range of salads – hit the spot! This was followed by a delicious soup and chicken parmigiana on Tuesday night, with chips, cheesy cauliflower, broccoli. Thank you Josh; we are very excited to have you join the boarding community and we look forward for more of your expert catering in the weeks to come.

Regards,

The Resilience Project - Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness (GEM)

As part of our boarding wellbeing approach, we are introducing The Resilience Project. This project has captured the world and couldn’t be more important these days. The aim of the project is to engage our boarders and encourage a collective approach in building each boarders’ gratitude, their empathy, and using mindfulness as a method to help stress, anxiety and promote mental health. It has been proven that capturing these three areas will build a person’s ability to bounce-back from adversity; essentially building resilience. Our Boarding House project will be a pilot for the College at large.

As a starting point, our younger boarders will receive The Resilience Project journal and have started their GEM journey this week. Our Boarding Committee and Boarding Staff are currently working on a whole Boarding House approach to build our GEM focus and ultimately become more resilient.
