John XXIII Rowing Club

We have finally made it male rowers! Whilst the females enter their third IGSSA Regatta this weekend, we are extremely excited to have our males begin their All Schools Regatta this Sunday.

We wish all our rowers the best of luck with their races.

Last minute reminders for the weekend ahead:

GIRLS IGSSA Regatta 28 May

  • Bus will depart the College at 6:20am sharp. Please do not be late and must have a mask.
  • All girls are expected to remain at the Regatta for the day and return on the College Bus back to the Shed to help unload the boats.

BOYS All Schools Regatta 29 May

  • There will be no College bus. Rowers will need to arrive at Canning Bridge Sheds no later than 8:30am. The last race is at 12:56pm.
  • Parking – a reminder to parents that parking will be hard to find. We advise parking on the opposite side of Canning Highway and walking across.
  • Uniforms – all boys must be in JTC uniform only. This includes JTC Rowing uniforms, zootsuits and or JTC PE uniform. Any non-JTC clothing will be confiscated.
  • There will be no medal presentations due to reducing face-to-face contact.

Thank you

A massive thank you to Lara and Michael Davis, David and Lucy Brett and Fiona Sweet and Jeff Sweet. A delicious BBQ breakfast was served to our hungry rowers after our Race Day last Saturday morning.

Communication has been far better this last fortnight, we greatly appreciate your assistance with this so we can better manage the rowers, the program and crew entries for Regattas. Keep up the tremendous work. I would like to see more communication on the Team App between coaches and rowers in order to keep our records accurate with attendance.

With love

It was fantastic to see Claire Woolfitt during the week. I am happy to report that Claire is doing well. We all look forward to seeing her back at the sheds and regattas as soon as she is ready. Sending our love to Claire.

Year 8 Learn to Row Program

I invite all interested rowers in Year 8 to register their interest to join our Rowing Program in Term 3. Registration is now open and will close on 3 June, 2022. To registered please complete the registration form.

This program is our entry level program to develop rowers understanding of the sport and the commitments required. It is a fantastic program to immerse oneself into. It allows for personal and physical growth and is an avenue for students to develop life long networks. The Program concludes with a House Regatta at our College shed at Canning Bridge.

Important information regarding the program:

Training will commence 3:30pm – 6:00pm two times per week

Training Days : TBC (depends on numbers)
