Around The Primary

Dear Parents

National Reconciliation Week begins today, 27 May and runs until 3 June. This year’s theme is ‘Be Brave. Make Change’.  It is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Schools and families play a key role in helping children to understand and learn from the past, so that we can all co-create a better future for our aboriginal brothers and sisters, and for us all.

Next Friday, 3 June we are celebrating Primary House Day. This involves the students participating in activities to learn about the House founders of John XXIII College and to commemorate the House to which they will belong throughout their time at the College.

On the day the students are required to wear their House shirt and sports shorts.  They will need to bring their morning tea, lunch and water bottle.  Please note that there will be no canteen lunch orders available on this day.

As part of our celebrations for Primary House Day, each class will be participating in a special incursion or sporting excursion.

I’m sure the students and staff are going to have a wonderful time on Primary House Day!

Every day our staff are making a difference educating and inspiring our students. Special thanks to the Parent Association for providing today’s lovely morning tea for our teachers, education assistants and all College staff. It was a lovely way to acknowledge and say thanks for the significant contributions they make in our classrooms and school community.

Kind regards

Staff News

Carly Moore and Brendan have welcomed Caelan Daniel into their family.  Big sister Cleo is very excited about the new addition.

Carpark Reminder

A reminder to parents and caregivers that disabled bays are for people with the appropriate permissions and that even when it rains or you are running late or just want to do a ‘drop and go’, these bays should not be used without the ACROD sign displayed.   We have several parents and grandparents who rely on these bays and have not been able to use them.

As you are aware, our entry and exit points get very busy in the morning and afternoon; however, we do our best to clear traffic as quickly as we can while keeping everyone safe. It is so important to always treat each other with kindness and respect.

COVID Reporting

It is important that the College continues to be notified of student positive COVID cases.  Please inform us via this LINK. The information will go directly to the College. If there are any queries related to this process, please email compliance@johnxxiii.edu.au
