PERFORMING ARTS
Welcome back to the start of an exciting new semester. This term will be full of many performances where you will be able to hear what your children have been learning for the last few months.
At the end of last semester we had two outstanding performances where the students demonstrated their fantastic skills. It was wonderful to see and hear these students performing!
JUNIOR CONCERT
Congratulations to all the students in the Year 7 Bands, the Year 7 Strings, the Year 7 Percussion Ensemble and the Intermediate Stage Band who took part in this concert on Tuesday 21 June. The music produced was outstanding and demonstrated a dedication to their capabilities.
Thank you to the ensemble directors Martin West, James Morrissey, Baltazar Kurowski, Sergei Golovko and Stuart Byrne. Thank you also to our fantastic compere for the evening Tracy Videon.
UNIT 3 MUSIC PERFORMANCE NIGHT
What a brilliant way to end the semester on Thursday 23 June. The musicianship shown by all the solo performers was extraordinary! Starting with Andrew Seamer performing a piece from his Investigation study on violin, we were thrilled to hear the wide range of solo instrumentalists in the class: Ryan Doherty on Trumpet, Ido Shahar on Clarinet, Fyonn Xie and Danny Birkett both on piano, Jules Protat on Guitar, Emily Andjelic on Violin and the fabulous vocalists - Meirav Berger, Ben Jason-Easton, Alice Kernich and Jodie Silberthau.
Finishing with a group performance demonstrated how well the class work together, whilst pursuing their own instrumental work. Congratulations also to Baltazar Kurowski for working hard with all the students in this class.

LESSONS AND ENSEMBLES
A reminder that instrumental music lessons have now recommenced so please ensure that you watch the Compass schedules and emails for confirmation.
A reminder that all payments for instrument hire and lessons should be made through the Finance Office or on Compass.
Students who are learning an instrument at the school are required to be part of the core ensemble program, and again being part of the instrumental program is dependent on commitment and attendance at ensembles.
These ensembles are an integral part of the music program, where students can apply the musical skills that they have covered in their individual or small group lessons. All ensembles have now started rehearsing.

- Keenan Strings - Monday after school (3:30 – 4:30pm)
- Ovenden Band - Wednesday after school (3:30 – 4:30pm)
All other ensembles are by invitation and/or audition only, and dependent on ongoing commitment to the core ensemble.
