Continuous Story
The English Department ran a continuous story at the school Open Night, on Thursday 28 April. Ms Kilkenny helped the students exploring Lilydale High School contribute a sentence to the story.
This year, more than ever, lots of potential new students and their siblings added their ideas to create a sweet short story about a misunderstood dragon finding his place.
We promised those who added their bit, that they could find it in the school newsletter, so here it is! Well done everyone!
It was early on Thursday morning when I first saw it. I hadn’t slept very well, so when my alarm when off and I cracked an eye open, at first I thought I was still dreaming. I woke up and saw a dragon – I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was a big green dragon (had dragon breath #science). I rubbed my eyes more and more and still couldn’t believe what I saw. I looked back at it and it was drooling on my face! I pushed it down onto my legs, and then it started JUMPING all over me. I screamed and ran out of the room. I ran throughout the house, not looking back, and dashed through the kitchen. The dragon followed me through the kitchen, falling over pots and pans and cracking a plate. I grabbed some lemons and squeezed them in the dragons eye. The dragon breathed fire back at me, and then stomped on my foot. All of a sudden, my foot turned into a… hotdog! It looked so good I ate it. It tasted gross… But then I realise that the dragon didn’t want to hurt me at all. The dragon just wanted a friend. But he didn’t have any – he was lonely. I hugged him, and as I did so, he sneezed on my shoe and it burned. I kicked the shoe off and hugged him tighter. I quickly let go, and called my friend to tell her what happened. “There’s no way that happened,” she said. All of a sudden the dragon leaned over my shoulder and roared into the phone. My friend Sharon started screaming. The dragon looked triumphant and hung up the phone. I sat down angrily and glared at the dragon. The dragon breathed fire at me. And then I sent him outside. He burned down the tree with luscious leaves. He almost hit my dog, Jumpy. Jumpy ran inside. I yelled at the dragon and told him off. He curled up into a ball and started screaming and crying.
