Prayer

2022 Catholic Schools Week Prayer

Creator God, you have blessed us with goodness and love.

We give thanks for being called to be a part of this Catholic school community.

We give thanks for those who created our Catholic schools.

May our learning, teaching and other work be a worthy echo of your grace,

And may our celebrations be touched by your joy.

Amen.

Year 4 Superstars!

Year 4 students Jazmin Bieman, Max Knight, Charlotte Donoghue and Luna Baynton recently organised a lolly guessing competition to raise money for Caritas. These students are admired for their thoughtfulness and organisation. The lucky winners were Annabelle Sims, Miss Glavocih and Cohen Walton.

Sacrament of First Eucharist

Candidates for the Sacrament of First Eucharist are approaching the end of this very special Sacramental Program. The learning will be wrapped up on the First Eucharist Retreat Day at St Xavier’s on Friday Week 5. The overall program will conclude at the First Eucharist Mass on the morning of Sunday 29th May at St Joseph’s Church. Candidates are asked to arrive at the Church by 8:15am and are encouraged to wear white shirts or dresses.

If any families of First Eucharist candidates are available to help with cooking the Retreat Day BBQ, please register your availability by emailing mfrend@arm.catholic.edu.au or calling the St Xavier’s Office on (02) 6742 1136. Also, the $10 Qkr payment is now overdue, so if you have not paid this amount, your prompt payment is kindly appreciated.

Please keep the First Eucharist candidates in your prayers as they finalise preparations to receive this very special Sacrament.

2022 Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated across the Armidale Diocese throughout Week 5 (next week). We are inviting members of the St Xavier’s community to have a walkthrough of our school on Monday 23rd May as a way to celebrate the wonderful work of our staff and to demonstrate what a Catholic education looks like at St Xavier’s.

On Tuesday 24th May, our school captains and prefects, along with Jen Honner and Mal Frend, will be travelling to Moree to attend the Western Deanery Catholic Schools Week Mass. Bishop Michael Kennedy will be the presider of this Mass, and each of the other Deanery Masses across our Diocese throughout Week 5. Our St Xavier’s representatives will stay for a quick luncheon, hosted by St Philomena’s, before heading back to Gunnedah ready for the end of the school day.
