Division Cross Country 2022

St Cecilia's had a remarkble day at the District Cross Country on Monday. 10 students from year 5/6 made it through to Division, which in and of itself was a fantastic achievement.

Unfortunately due to illness and other commitment, 8 out of the 10 competed.

Out of those 8, 6 made it through to the next stage finishing in the top 12 in their races. This will be the 3 stage and an unprecedented result for St Cecilia's

The two that missed out on going through finished just outside of the top 12 and also ran magnificently.

A big thank you to Mr Johnson and Mrs Galgani for orgaising and preparing the students and to all the parents who braved the weather to transport and support the students.

Inter School Sports

This was a very interesting series of games. Everyone put in their hardest work for this game. We did exceptionally well over this round and here is the feedback and scores from the 5/6s.

FULLY LOADED SOFTBALL

Fully Loaded Softball was a clash of shattering the softball, and throwing it at full speed. We were very excited, but not about the outcome! We unfortunately lost 12-26. Some highlights of the game were when Chiara nearly took a catch. Another one is when Viraj played against his cousin. Everyone put in their hardest effort in this game and hopefully they will win the next one. Solway showed great sportsmanship and so did we.

SOCCER

In soccer it was a great game between Solway and St Cecilia’s. In the first half we had an early lead of 1-0 with Sam scoring the opening goal. There was no scoring for the next 30 mins but in the last 5 minutes Solway had some massive shots at goal,  but then Josh the goalie booted it down the middle of the pitch and Charlie passed to Alex,  who passed to Sam,  who  passed back to Charlie who scored the last goal! Both teams showed amazing sportsmanship. The score in the end was 2-0 and it was a ripper game!!!

NETBALL GIRLS

The year six  girls did an amazing job in netball but sadly STC lost against Solway. Both teams played really well and were great sports. Both teams rotated player positions so that everyone could have a go. Both teams encourage one another. The score in the end was 20-15.

NETBALL BOYS

It was a wet early morning for the netball boys as we took on Solway at  their home (which was their school). It was going to be slippery so the boys thought they might slip and slide a bit. It was a well fought game with Hamish and Michael both shooting around 10 goals in one quarter, which helped us to get the win! 17-7 was the final score.

As you can see everyone contributed really well and that got us 2 out of 4 wins, unlucky for the netball girls but sure they will come back next week and get a win, as for the softballers too.
