Principal's Report

Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Each week I marvel at the resilience of our St. Finbar's Community. 2022 has been an unusual year with the return to school but with the spectre of covid 19 hanging over our heads. We have had to think differently about face to face education with the majority of events back on the calendar. Staff have been excellent in their preparation of lessons and activities at school and students have got themselves back into the mindset of onsite learning and the social and educational implications that this entails. It will not always be smooth sailing for everyone all the time, but I encourage all community members to support each other and to reach out for assistance if they need it.
Year 4 Bike Ed training and Camp
Bike Ed Training has concluded this week and we are very well prepared to attend the Maldon Bike Ed camp next week. Stay tuned next week on Instagram and Facebook for action updates!
Year 1 Family Mass
What a wonderful celebration it was last Sunday with our Year 1 families at the Family mass. My thanks to Mrs Norton, Miss Ferrari and Mr Anderson for all of the preparation work that went on in the background. Thanks also to the staff that attended and the P & F who ran the cake stall. The stall raised $641 for the Year 1 classrooms to spend on additional supplies for the children.
Sex Education and Protective Behaviours
This week saw the completion of the Sex Education and Protective behaviours sessions for our students and families. My thanks to Mrs Cath McCallig who once again ran our sessions. As always, the sessions with Cath have been delivered with professionalism and a true understanding of our St. Finbar's community.
Baby News Congratulations!
Congratulations to the Santalucia Family on the safe arrival of Baby Rocco on 20th May.
Mum and baby are doing well.
Coffee Van
Apologies that I did not inform the community that Christian the Coffee Van man was away the past 2 weeks due to coffee van maintenance issues. He will be back on board tomorrow for regular service.
New School Signage
Most of the new school signs have been installed today and they look fantastic. Hopefully they will streamline entry and exit to the school for deliveries, new families and visitors. The parish sign and the big sign on the hall facing Nepean Highway is due for installation next week.
Elevator Works
Major works will begin on the elevator construction next week. The concrete base and footings will be poured on Tuesday and steel works will begin straight after that. The elevator is currently in transit on a container ship and I am reliably informed that it is off the coast of Singapore en-route for installation in July.
God Bless
