Reconciliation Week

The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme, “Be Brave. Make Change” is a challenge to all Australians — individuals, families, communities, organisations and government — to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

OSHC will focus and reflect on two goals as part of the service Quality Improvement Plan.

  • Ensure Anti-Bias goals and practices in our curriculum and examine Educator “Unconscious Biases”.
  • Acknowledge unfair and unjust issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples either in our community or broader community and share this information with OSHC students.

As in all other areas of the curriculum, OSHC educators will tailor and scaffold anti-bias education materials and activities to each child’s cognitive, social, and emotional developmental capacities. Educators will plan and choose learning experiences that stimulate children to explore the next step of new ideas and skills and allow each child to apply new understandings and behaviours in his or her daily life.

Balancing: 30 June income deadline

At the end of each financial year, Services Australia reconciles family payments, including CCS. This is to ensure families receive the correct amount of assistance for the year.

Families need to confirm their income after the end of the financial year for this to occur. This process is called balancing.

Families must confirm their income for the 2020-21 and 2019-20 financial years by 30 June this year to avoid losing CCS or incurring a debt.
