Sport is often seen as a demonstration of physical prowess and mental fortitude – competition between athletes striving to be the best. In recent years we have seen sport become much more than just the game. Several high-profile, social justice issues have brought athlete advocacy into the global consciousness and strengthened the voice of all athletes as a collective. Sport is fast becoming a powerful driver for social change, changing attitudes and highlighting causes to reach the wide audience that sport holds.

Developed in collaboration with Australian soccer legend and human rights activist, Craig Foster, this free course series explores the increasing trend of social activism in global sport and looks at the power of individuals to make a positive impact.

Throughout the courses, you’ll build an understanding of the historical development of sports activism and the changing global landscape. You’ll explore the interlinked relationship between sport and human rights and look at the uniquely powerful position of sports organisations and governing bodies, as well as the individual, in driving the Sport for Good movement. Learn how sports can be used as a force for good.

You will hear from key sporting personalities as well as people who are doing significant work in leading the charge for change.
